Apple release Safari for Windows - By: Stobbo

Apple has released a version of their web browser, Safari, for Windows operating systems. This coincides with the release of the public beta of version 3 of the Safari web browser. Currently the software does have some bugs; however this is expected while it is in a beta state.

The browser boasts many features, including: easy to use bookmarking; built in RSS reader and an easy to use tab system – although these features are already available in many of the current Windows browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Opera. A major point Apple has been keen to make, is that Safari is the 'fastest browser running on Windows' – based on the industry standard iBench tests. Despite all of its good features, there has been more than ten reported security holes - which is something you should bear in mind, if you plan on using.

"We think Windows users are going to be really impressed when they see how fast and intuitive web browsing can be with Safari," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Hundreds of millions of Windows users already use iTunes, and we look forward to turning them on to Safari's superior browsing experience too."

Safari has always had a very small market share when it comes to browsers, due to it previously only being available on Apple's operating system, Mac OSX – which is used on a much smaller scale when compared to Windows. With Safari now being available for Windows, it is expected that the market share will increase.

Safari 3 is available for download, freely at the Safari page at Apple's website.

Information on the iPhone - By: Richman99

Shot at 2007-06-29

The iPhone was released on June 29th. It is a media and internet phone, which means you can browse the web, text messages, use your email, listen to photos, and much more! The product is like the iPod, with the same type of headphones and a similar type of battery. The iPhone has it all! AT&T will have the phone for sale, as well as from the Apple Store. Obviously this great phone will be expensive! Believe it or not, the phone will cost $499 for the 4GB version, and $599 for the 8GB version! The iPhone is definitely one of the coolest and slickest phones of all time!

Now to talk about the cons of the iPhone. First, the memory is pretty small, if you look at the price which is $500 to $600, depending on the size of the memory. Some people don't like the size of the memory, and it stops them from buying the iPhone. Second, the battery life is very short. If you actually use it for the media and everything, the battery would easily die out in about 2 days. And if you wanted a music phone with camera and more media, just get a Verizon Chocolate or a Motorola Razor, and that too for $200! Another con is that it's actually pretty slow. Now when it comes to it's biggest pros, then basically the internet, though slow, is one of the best things included. Who would want to carry a laptop around everywhere?

Let's discuss about the features. First off is the internet capability. As stated before, the internet is pretty slow. The only good thing about it is that you don't have to carry a laptop everywhere you go. Just take your phone out, and wait for it to load, and then you're browsing the internet. As simple as that! Now, if you're like me, and you hate waiting for the internet to load, then this might bother you. Second feature is calling. Yup, that's fine. tongue.gif

It also has a 2 Megapixel Camera in it. 2 megapixels these days isn't a lot, so if they had made the size more, it would have definitely been more popular. The iPhone also has multimedia library, which you can sort by many ways: Genre, Artist, Album, Playlists, PodCasts, and more. You can also browse your email with the phone. PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel documents can be viewed as attachments in the emails.

The iPhone is also missing a few features that are usually in good devices such as: Instant Messaging, Voice Recorder, Memory Card Slot, Copy and Paste, and much more.

Now to talk about the company that made this phone, Apple Inc. Apple is the creator of many great products, some as being the iPod, the iMac, and of course the iPhone. Apple Inc. has grown a lot throughout the years. When the company started in the 1950's, their first product wasn't that good. It was a weird computer missing a keyboard and lacking other essential things for a good computer. However, in the 21th Century, they've really picked it up a notch. They've made great products, such as the ones I listed above. Apple has to be probably one of the best companies, along with Microsoft. On a last note, I'd like to congratulate Apple Inc. for making the phone of the future.

Amazon.com - By: mbridges7718

Launched in 1995, millions of online shoppers have come to this website to buy anything ranging from books to tools. Amazon is user friendly and allows shoppers to buy through credit cards, checks, and other methods. Amazon has been noted to sell anything, but this is one product that caught my eye. It is the JL421 Badonkadonk Land Cruiser/Tank by NAO Design.

This product is for anyone that wants to chuck out the $19,999 to buy it. Its top speed is 40mph and can hold up to five people or cargo comfortably. I think that this product is pushing the limits. This could be used in robberies and other crimes to resist arrest and cause harm to many officials. Still NAO Design has every right to sell their product...for now. This is just one example of how Amazon is stretching the limits to buy items.

British Blogging Ban by Jamster
Over 2,000 people in Britain blog on a regular basis, but could this apparently harmless action get you fired from your job? It seems so. A recent survey found that nearly 40% of bloggers have posted detailed which 'could (be) potentially sensitive or damaging about their place of work, employer or a colleague.'

Employers have taken matters into their own hands, running scans weekly to identify those who are 'wasting' their time blogging. The smallest of comments, posted in a sarcastic frame of mind could have very serious consequences. Whistleblowers and company secrets are top of the list for leaked information, both of which could have a major impact on the employee's company, and also get themselves fired in disgrace.

Some people have compared it to the email fad in the mid 90s, where droves of people either misunderstood or misused emails and gave away vital details in what they assumed was a safe environment, and there many people fell to the threats of Malware. Don't be lulled by a false sense of security on the web, everyone can read what you've posted, as long as they know where to look. Remember never to give out your personal details online, never give anyone your phone number or home address.

eBay pulls Google Ads by Stobbo

Earlier last month, auction giant eBay pulled its US adverts from search giant Google. This came after eBay were angered by Google's decision to hold an event on the same evening as eBay was holding their annual merchants' conference. The event held by Google was believed to of been designed to take the attention away from eBay's card processing service, Paypal and bring attention to Google card processing service: Google Checkout.

eBay's decision could become a huge loss to Google, with eBay being one of Adwords (Google's advertising system) biggest spenders on advertising – if not the biggest with eBay spending an estimated $25 million per year on advertising with Google in the US.

Google eventually decided to cancel its controversial event, with analysts now believing that after negotiations, eBay have decided to once again advertise on Google.
