Forum & Site Discussion

Welcome Slammers, welcome -- to the Forum and Site Discussion Section of the second Sal's Realm Newspaper. In this edition, Julz writes an article that will hopefully shed a new light on those moments of annoyance, Richman shares his thoughts on Sal's and commemorates it's birthday, and finally Jamie has composed a list of places that you ought to visit on the site that you might not usually.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy reading this, because it was absolute HELL making it.

Happy Birthday Sal's! - By: Richman99

On November 4, 2006, Sal's forum members were very excited. It has now been over one year since the new forum has been released to the public. Sal's Forum, including the old forums, will celebrate its birthday on November 23! Time flies when you're doing something fun, doesn't it?

Sal's Forums is one of the best RuneScape forums I have seen. In such little time, Salmoneus, the staff, and the members have made Sal's Realm incredible! I remember how when I first came here, there wasn't a lot of information and the site seemed rather unhelpful. Not knowing that the site would eventually become outstanding, I went to RuneHQ.

After being on RuneHQ for such a long time, I went back to visit Sal's Realm since as I found their forums weren't all that friendly. When I came back to Sal's, I was surprised that so much had changed. The website had much more information and it seemed to be a lot better than RuneHQ. However, when I first came back to Sal's I only visited the Guides instead of the forums. I started going through the website searching the links, and realized that I had been on Sal's for about a year and a half but never bothered to go on the forums. When I did start using the forums, I found out that the forum community was extremely nice. People helped me with the rules, how to put on an avatar or a signature, how to change my profile, how to make cool events and many other things.

The forums are getting better and better. So many great things were, and still are, being added, such as the Role Playroom, Multi-Language Guides, Sal's Newspaper, new quest and skill guides, and much more!

There were many reasons why I felt Sal's was such an outstanding place to be, such as:

1. The forum community is very nice and friendly, and there isn't any bad language being used.
2. This community is always ready to help both beginners and more advanced users.
3. Guides from Sal's Realm have more depth, pictures, information, and better quality than some other RuneScape fansites.

I remember how I was first obsessed with the Marketplace Forum since I was a very big merchant back then. Later, I started going into other forums such as the Events Forum. I found great events such as the Snow Ball Wars and the Castle Wars and other great events. I have made a couple of events myself and I have enjoyed them a lot! Some memorable events were the Christmas 2005 Party where hundreds of people came and overfilled Falador. Other events that stand out in my recollection are was Sal's Castle Wars 3, which I had the opportunity of hosting, and World Wars 1 and 2.

As I look back to how I first started using Sal's forums, I truly appreciate all the help I have gotten from the other members, and hope that I will be as much of a help to beginners as other members were once to me.

I also hope that everyone is as excited about Sal's birthday as I am! Remember to flood Sal's inbox congratulating him.

Sal's Newspaper wishes a happy birthday to Sal's New Forums and a Happy Birthday to Sal's Website, including the old forums!

Places to Visit This Month - By: Jamie6441

In case you have yet to notice Sal's has had some wonderful new additions to its ever growing community. So in case you have forgotten or just have yet to even notice be sure to check it out.

Role-Players' Room

Well the start to this new and exciting forum seems to come from the "Naruto Role play" It was renewed by Old Ben from the idea from Lenzi and was a great idea of basically telling a new story in the world of Naruto. You sign up making a name and appearances and ninja moves and play in the story writing what happens next and controlling your character. After the success of that, more and more RPG's came out, with the same concept, just with different stories such as the Elements of Power RPG and the Megaman RPG. With all of these major RPG's now swarming the story mat, the story mat was getting more activity than it has seen in awhile but its active topics seem tower over these and other stories and comics where not being commented on as much or not at all. So, yes they now have there own forum, active with a people willing to become part of peoples different stories and having lots of fun story telling."The Naruto role play" now seems to be the biggest one out there, with 64 pages with 1,269 posts as well and now it goes into its last chapter.

Be sure to visit them here.
Also you can find information on how to start and be in a good RPG here.

New Submission Forum

Jagex has been hinting and telling us about how they are going to start making RuneScape in other languages! So help sites are already preparing for this and of course Sal's is already on the job! Do you know a second language? Well guess what? Your talents are needed to start translating guides. At the moment Sal's is starting with the Free Player Quest Guides but will soon move on to to other guides. Guides are currently being translated into Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, and Italian.

If you know any of those laungages I suggest going here.

Item and Monster Databases

We all know this is not a new forum but a very over looked forum, its a place to visit and help out. It gets a average of 2-5 submissions a month Which is very inactive for a whole forum and needs submissions. Salmoneus is busy with other things and when done he will get on the Monster Database, but still needs your support in submissions to the forum. Also Sal has talked on how we need a lot more items even if the item is small and unimportant we still need your support in information on this item.

You can support Sal's Databases here.

No Sal's - By: Julz(DJ)4433

I cannot remember how I found, joined and became active on Sal's, but I'm glad it happened.

Can you remember how you found Sal's, joined and became active? Now, think of everything that happened after that.. Did you enjoy it, or was it a horrible mess? I'm guessing that if you are reading this you like Sal's and aren't planning on leaving any time soon! Well I hope that's the case. Okay, so you've enjoyed your time at Sal's, you've made friends, been to parties, made GFX and stories, gotten into debates and generally had a good time. Sal's may or may not have changed your Runescape experience, but it did for me, not only that, it helped me improve my spelling and grammar as you read last issue.

Okay, what I'm trying to say is, none of this would've happened if Sal hadn't felt like helping people. He was just a Runescape player like all of us, BUT "He had a dream" (Had to add that: P) about helping "noobs" and players that didn't have a clue. I'm not going to tell you about the history of the site, as Meen explained that to you last issue, but basically Sal started with a Geocities, which failed horribly, but that didn't stop Sal from giving up. He finally made the site we know and love today, and little did he know that he would soon add a forum, which would become the main part of the site.

Now, can you imagine if Sal hadn't created the Site and Forum? Just picture it for a minute, you wouldn't have the friends you have now, the experiences and memories. You might've joined another forum, one that didn't have such a good community, and you would probably enjoy yourself, but you would never feel as attached as you would've to Sal's. There is something about Sal's that makes you want to help, to be active and contribute. It has that "homey" feel, and you have more friends and feel like more of a part of the community.

So next time, when you've had a bad experience on Sal's, or you get annoyed with the Mods/Admins decisions, just remember all the good times you've had, and how different your experiences would've been without it. "Sal had a dream he fulfilled, don't make it a nightmare"
